Before you send

Send it to the organisation's privacy officer if one is listed in their privacy policy; otherwise to their general contact address.
Keep a dated copy and any delivery receipt. If you escalate, the record matters more than the wording.
Allow 30 days before complaining to the OAIC — that is what the regulator expects.
A refusal must be in writing with reasons and the complaint options available to you.
