Data Removal Kit

A written method for removing, correcting or de-indexing your personal information in Australia — using the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) rather than US-style broker opt-out forms. Includes access to the request letter builder templates.

A$75

Australian dollars, GST inclusive where applicable. Delivered as a download link after payment.

How the method works

  1. Find the holder. Aggregators and republishers usually got your details from somewhere upstream. The Kit shows how to trace the source so the request lands where the obligation actually sits.
  2. Pick the principle. APP 12 for access, APP 13 for correction, APP 11.2 for destruction or de-identification when information is no longer needed. Naming the right one changes how the request is handled.
  3. Write it once, properly. Identity verification, a precise description of the information, the outcome you want, and a stated deadline — in one page.
  4. Log the response. Confirmations, refusals and silence all matter. The Kit's record sheet is built for the evidence an OAIC complaint asks for.
  5. Escalate if needed. Internal review, then the OAIC after 30 days. The Kit includes the wording for both.

What this is not

It is not legal advice, and it is not a guarantee of deletion. Some records must be kept by law. Some organisations will refuse, and can lawfully do so in defined circumstances. Search engines are not required to de-index everything. What the Kit gives you is the correct route, the correct wording, and the record you need if you decide to escalate.
